Stocking fillers

While doing our Christmas shopping, many of us get caught up in the latest trends and toys, while forgetting the simple things that our special children really love, or need…so Special Needs 4 Special Needs has come up with a Christmas ideas list to fill those stockings for our special kids, their siblings and carers…. 

For those that have sensory needs how about Mini Hedgehog balls for just 90 cents, Spaghetti keyrings for $2.50, Squishy Mesh stress balls for $4.00 or Jelly balls for $2.00. Or for a bit of visual sensation we have the Visual Liquid Timers for $6.75 or Flashing Sticks for  $2.75. 

How about a Chewlery necklace or Chew Stixx, or Flying Saucer blower just 90 cents, for oral motor needs ?

There are Punch Balloons for $2.20, Wind up Crocodiles for $2.40, or for something a bit bigger what about a Scooter board for motor skills – and also a lot of fun!

Never forgetting the special siblings  – an “I ? you” pen or “Special Sister/brother” keyring would be a nice addition to the Christmas stocking, or for just a bit of fun there are Flying foam gliders for 90 cents, Whoopee cushions for $1.95,  Pullback Crocodiles for $2.00, or the Mini Poppin Pirate game.

Christmas closures

Special Needs 4 Special Needs will be closing for Christmas holidays from the 20th December 2010 to 9th January 2011.  Customers will still be able to place orders during this time, however orders will not be sent until the 10th of January.

Assistance Dogs Awareness

22nd-30th November is Assistance Dogs Australia Awareness week. Assistance Dogs Australia trains dogs, Labradors and Retreivers, to help people with disabilities. These dogs then undertake everyday tasks like opening doors, picking up dropped items, etc. Most importantly, this provides freedom, confidence and independence to those people with a disability, which is priceless! Donations or puppy sponsorship to contribute to this vital work can be made at the Assistance Dogs website:  http://www.assistancedogs.org.au/

Social Inclusion Week

20th-28th November is Social Inclusion week.  This is particularly meaningful for those of us with special needs individuals in our lives. Social Inclusion week aims to promote a return to  the values of a community that truly cares for each other and takes responsibility for supporting those who need a helping hand without judgement, andto take a stand to fight loneliness and isolation . There will be events and celebrations held across the country.

Childrens Day

Today the 20th November is Universal Childrens Day. Universal Childrens Day is an International Day to promote  worldwide fraternity and understanding between children, regardless of race, religion, ability or socio-economic situation.  It is also a day of activity devoted to promoting the welfare of the children of the world. Celebrate your special children today!

International Day of Tolerance

Today, 16th November is the International Day of  Tolerance.  This day is to promote and  encourage tolerance, respect, dialogue and cooperation among different cultures, civilizations, religions, peoples and abilities.

Spinal Cord Injury Awareness

15th-21st November is Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Week. The aim is to raise awareness of spinal cord injury and promote its prevention, SCIAW is dedicated to reducing the number of spinal cord injuries which happen every day in Australia. There will be various programs being held around the nation.

National Psychology Week

14th-20th November is National Psychology week. This week aims to increase public awareness about psychology, psychological issues and the role psychologists play in community wellbeing.

Christmas Competition

Ho!Ho!Ho! It’s nearly that time of year again….so to celebrate, Special Needs for Special Needs is holding a Christmas Prize Competition. For every $20 spent between 15th November and 15th December you will receive one entry into the draw for the prize. $20 spent = one entry, $40=two entries, and so on. The prize consists of: 1 x 1kg weighted lap bag with fiddly bits, 1 x multi-function fibre optic lamp, 1 x set of catch bags, 1 x set of P’s and Q’s, 1 x set of 13cms spiky massage bags, 1 x squishy mouse, 1 x set of 4 stretchy sticky creatures, 1 x flame ball.
